st george, february 2014.

i promised you a st george post like 2 months ago. sorry it's taken so long. i needed to get over my ptsd before i could write about it.

this photograph sums up the trip remarkably well. paige and i had just rolled into town and decided our first stop of the trip should be to the top of the water tank on ... st george mountain? is that was that place is called? i don't know. but does it look cold? CAUSE IT WAS.

after the water tank we ate at pizza factory, a long time tradition. then i think we saw a movie ... i can't be sure, because i think i have mentally blocked this whole trip as a coping mechanism.

here's what happen:  somewhere between eating pizza factory and visiting a snow-covered zion national park the next morning, my body decided that it would reject everything i had lovingly fed it the last 48 hours, and then refuse to accept anything else.

i spent the trip laying on the couch (when i wasn't in the bathroom). i MAY have watched a movie? played a game? i know i tried to eat texas roadhouse steak fry and it wasn't good. not good at all.

uh, so there you have it. the trip re-cap i promised.

odds/ends.

as you can probably guess, i haven't been doing much interweb work this week, but my mom basically demanded a post, and i thought i owed it to her for being such a good nurse lately.

i've mostly been watching pixar movies; all that's left is cars 2 {i admit i have been putting this one off}. in addition, i've been:

- reading {not even a joke} james farrell's the peacegiver.
- learning why katie and tom broke up, thanks people.
- reading up on marilyn monroe, then watching her in action.
- making/eating banana smoothies.
- coveting this purse.
- playing ZORBA {you have to click on this one}.
- reading about "being busy".
- ginger beer drinking.
- entertaining guests {thank you from the bottom of my heart to the folks that visited me}.
- barfing, coughing, draining fluids, sleeping, pill-taking, being bored.

those last things were graphic so i thought i put it all into one, for your sake.

have a happy weekend, and don't get heat stroke.

recovering activities.

1 week from today i'll be stuck in bed for two weeks, recovering from a little surgery. the surgery is beside the point. the point is:
i have two and a half weeks of vacation!

i've known about this for a while and have been contemplating what to do.
  • i still have quite a few movies to watch on my mission void movie list; i'll watch those.
  • remember when i wanted to read that one time? yeah ... all i read off of that list was the j crew fall catalog and the september issue of real simple. i'm embarrassed. ok but this time f'real i'm going to read something! it will be one or more of the following: the peacegiver, the miracle of forgiveness, or mere christianity. wish me luck.
  • go to st george; never leave the pool side.
  • maybe i could do a couple things off my 24 things list. quilt? 3 classic movies?
  • brush up on my seinfeld.
  • watch the pixar movies in order.
  • write letters to paige.
  • blog?
  • be showered with presents, like last time.
suggestions on other recovering activities?

forgive me.

sorry that i have completely ignored my blogging responsibilities as of late. it's probably because i've felt like this all week, or maybe i'm still getting over saturday's big loss, or maybe i just wanted to take a little break.

regardless, i'm back.

blah.

this is how i feel on this lovely fall day. shouldn't colds be reserved for gloomy winter days?

this is taking WAY too long.

it's best if we forge through till it's over.
from now on, no more posts between the travel log.
hold me to it.

DAY #8.
this day needs some explanation:
the forecast predicted rain everyday of our trip, luckily it was wrong most of the time, but on friday, may 20th, it was not.

rain is sometimes pleasant. sometimes i really like rain.
however, it isn't that welcomed when
1-we are on vacation in a place that we walk everywhere.
2-i am sick and hacking up a lung.
but other than that, it's great.

this should explain why there are hardly any pictures on this post and why the itinerary is scarce. i spent most of my day laying in the incredibly comfortable bed in my hotel room and watching the rain fall out my window.

there was however:

{this was pretty darn good, but the best thing was the pan-roasted chicken with roasted garlic mash, haricot verts, and chicken ajus. oh! but the warm goat cheese and spinach salad with a citrus vinaigrette was SO GOOD too.}
{paige got the 3 cheese mac and cheese with brie, white cheddar and monterrey jack ... "best mac and cheese ever!"}

{paige being birthed - her word's not mine - and some key lime cheesecake.}

-and the upper west side in general

{the reason i ever fell in love with new york city was because i was obsessed with the movie you've got mail. my friends from high school can attest to that. the first time i went to new york, i remember remarking that "it was even better than it appears in you've got mail!"}

{fairway flowers and magnolia treats ... what could be better?}

all things i love and quite enjoyed.

maybe next time the rapper will show up if it doesn't rain.
